Serve Others Sacrificially

Dr. Karl Menninger, a famous psychiatrist, was giving a lecture on mental health. During the question and answer session someone asked, “What would you advise a person to do if that person felt a nervous breakdown coming on?”

Most people thought he would say, “Go see a psychiatrist immediately,” but he didn’t. To the audience’s astonishment, Dr. Menninger replied, “Lock up your house, find someone in need, and help that person”.

In order to overcome discouragement and live with joy, don’t focus on yourself. Get involved with other people.

As Matthew 20:28 tells us: The son of man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.

In what ways can you serve someone today?
