Prevent Satan's Deception: Apply Paul's Strategy
The portia spider is a master predator whose chief weapon is deception. To begin with, says Robert Jackson in National Geographic, the spider looks like a piece of dried leaf or foliage blown into the web. When it attacks other species of spiders, it uses a variety of methods to the lure the host spider into striking range.
Sometimes it crawls onto the web and taps the silken threads in a manner that mimics the vibrations of a mosquito caught in the web. The host spider marches up for dinner and instead becomes the meal himself.
Like the portia spider, Satan’s weapon of choice is deception. Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).
As Billy Graham said: “Never underestimate Satan’s power, and never underestimate his ability to deceive us and make us think he isn’t to be feared. In fact, he even deceives some people into thinking he doesn’t exist! He is not as powerful as God—but he still is a powerful spiritual force who works against God in every way he possibly can."
Paul's strategy for preventing Satan's deception: “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:11)
Even though he is active and deceptive, Jesus Christ's death and resurrection defeated Satan.
